For graduates

A great place to build a career

If you yearn for a great work life balance, fresh air and a great view from your office window, then Richmondshire could be just the place for you. It can really offer graduates something different to the daily grind of the City; with no crowded commuter routes, no high rise office blocks and definitely no concrete. It's ideal for creative types, those that enjoy the outdoors or even just those wanting a slower pace and a better quality of life.

Working in Richmondshire

There are plenty of employment opportunities in the area and, as there is no higher education institution in the area, many employers struggle to fill roles and specific skills gaps. The region also offers plenty of opportunities within the public sector for graduates wishing to work in health care, education or for the local authority.

The area was once famed for its agricultural industry, but the district is now becoming just as well known for the strength of its growing creative and digital sectors, whilst construction, property, information, knowledge and business services, along with the hotel and catering sectors, are all on the up.  The District is also home to the largest military establishment in Europe, which is one of the regions largest employers.

Living in Richmondshire

With cobbled market places, Georgian buildings and plenty of fresh air and open space, Richmondshire is full of old world charm. You're unlikely to find the normal retail stores on the highstreet. Richmondshire's full of independent shops selling local produce and cosy pub's selling local beers, but with Leeds, York and Newcastle a short commute away you're never too far away from the nearest TopShop. It's a real delight for foodies who will really appreciate the produce offered by local butchers and grocers, as well as the abundance of restaurants and gastro pubs all dishing up local fare.

If you're more of a thrill seeker or the sporty type then you'll really enjoy the opportunities offered by the varied landscape. There's plenty of terrain to explore, mountains to bike, rivers to fish and cliff's to climb. There're also plenty of attractions and museums for those more interested in seeing then doing.

Relocating to Richmondshire

If you're looking to relocate to Richmondshire, you'll find that prices are competitive in this area compared to setting up home in the South. There are also plenty of places to rent, with a 2 bedroom property coming in at (around) a modest £500 per month. However, as there's no student population in the area, you may find house shares harder to come by, but the great transport links on offer mean that many parts of Richmondshire are easily commutable from nearby York and Teesside.
