Graduate Profiles

One of our recent graduates, Andy, gives a snapshot of a typical day at Hallmark.

Andy Downs

I joined Hallmark Cards after finishing my Masters in Producing Film and Television. Most of my educational background centred around the media industries, so I had little knowledge of the greeting cards business. The Hallmark Graduate Programme has given me a great opportunity to experience different aspects of a leading international company before deciding where I want my future career path to go. My current placement is in the Business Planning department and my typical day looks like this:

9am Arrive at work and check emails.

10am One-to-one with my line manager to review my progress with my current projects.

11am Meeting with my Mentor, Steve Wright, Managing Director of Tigerprint - part of the business that works exclusively for Marks and Spencer.

12pm Meet the other graduates for lunch.

1pm Work on cost saving projects.

2pm Participate in a training course on Understanding the Hallmark Brand.

3pm Meeting with the Marketing department on a Forever Friends cost saving project.

4pm Continue work on cost saving projects.

5pm Home.
