What is the Graduate Internship Programme? It is for graduates who can work full-time & in the hope that they will be kept on by the employer, or be able to find another job on the back of their experience The Graduate Internship programme is a new scheme designed to offer Graduates the chance to work in a business to gain valuable employability skills. The scheme will offer you the opportunity to work within an organisation, earning £266 per week. You will have the opportunity to learn new & valuable skills which will in turn enhance your CV for future employment. Organisations participating in the internship scheme include small & medium sized enterprises, charities, national & multinational companies & the public sector. What does it involve? •You will spend 12 weeks working in a business •You will learn valuable skills •You will gain employability enhancement •Chance to showcase your talents •Earn £266 per week In order to apply you must: •Have graduated in 2008, 2009 or If you are a 2010 graduate you must have received your results to apply •Graduates on any part-time course (masters/phd) are eligible to apply for an internship, assuming you have the time to undertake the work in line with the employer's requirements. However, graduates enrolled on full-time courses are not eligible. This includes masters/phd students in their dissertation period. •Be available to work full time for 3 months •Have permission to work in the UK for this period •Have a relevant qualification or experience •Be able to travel to the internship location |

| Job details: | This is an internship in conjunction with the Leeds Metropolitan University and Recruitment & Selection Services. About Recruitment & Selection Services: Recruitment & Selection Services has a dedicated Young Person’s Recruitment Team which is responsible for the development and management of initiatives such as work experience, apprenticeships, graduate recruitment and national initiatives including the Future jobs Fund. The Young Person’s Recruitment Team responds to the 14-19 Strategy, Children & Young People’s Plan and associated workforce plans within North Yorkshire County Council to attract more young people to the workforce and to promote NYCC as an ‘Employer of Choice’ Project / Placement Description: A Graduate Internship has been developed to design and implement a Recruitment & Selection Communication Strategy, in accordance with the corporate policy. The graduate will be required to re-brand the existing Real Start brand associated with the Young Person’s Recruitment Agenda in consultation with service users, and with support from the Young Person’s Recruitment Team. The graduate internship will offer the opportunity to project manage North Yorkshire County Council’s communication project to: •Promote local government as an Employer of Choice •Utilise new mediums, particularly on-line and technology functions, to engage with young people and promote the Young Person’s Recruitment Agenda. The graduate will report directly to the Senior Young Person’s Development Adviser and will be supported by a placement mentor. Graduates will be supported with training and development needs and will have access to a range of learning and development packages to support them through the internship. Graduates will be supported to make the transition to an established post on completion of the 12-week internship but there is no guarantee of employment. Person Specification: •The graduate does not require a design or media qualification but a creative/innovative flair will be beneficial. An understanding of technology including social networks/website development would be an advantage. •The Graduate Internship will require candidates to have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with groups of young people. •The graduate is required to work well using their own initiative and to be responsive to deadlines/work pressure. Working hours: 08:30 – 17:00 (with 1 hour for lunch) Mon – Thurs, 08:30 – 16:30 Fri. Flexible working is in operation, at the discretion of the placement supervisor.
