Product Development Trainee - Elland (Halifax)

This vacancy has now closed.

Job details:
We are seeking a talented and ambitious Product Development Trainee with a genuine passion for food to join the team and contribute to our continued success.

At New Ivory, we develop and manufacture the freshest and best tasting sauces, gravies, marinades, dips and dressings for pouring over, dipping and drizzling. With clients such as Marks & Spencers, Tesco and Nando’s, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with an enviable portfolio of customers, with top quality ingredients, developing great products.

New Ivory is a business without compromise – the best people, the best processes, the best environment all coming together to produce the best product.

Working as part of the NPD team, you will liaise internally with the Commercial, Technical and Production teams to ensure the successful development of products from concept through to launch.

This is an exciting and varied role. You will be responsible for:
• Co-ordinating and carrying out factory trials
• Sample production
• Writing internal manufacturing procedures.
• Building client relationships
• Process development
• Developing presentation materials for customer presentations

It is very possible that this will evolve into a permanent role after the initial 12 month internship and, (business requirements allowing) we intend that this person will get a flavour of Product and Process development.

You will be exposed to a range of opportunities within our group, and will be encouraged to develop your skills within a supportive team environment.
Don’t just take our word for it – Emily, a University of Leeds graduate in our NPD team says:

“New Ivory is a really friendly and expanding team. There’s always loads to do – I have learnt so much! The role has really expanded my knowledge and skills which are transferable to other roles.”

Person requirements:

A food related degree is advantageous, but not essential.

- You will have a keen knowledge and passion for food.
- You will be a hands on team player, enthusiastic, motivated, with a can do attitude and the ability to multi-task effectively.
- You will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to all levels.

Somebody who wants a closely defined and fixed set of work targets and working hours each day may not be the ideal candidate, somebody who can work in a fast moving and changing chilled food environment, where we are driven by the requirements of Top 5 multiples will be an ideal candidate. Flexibility, drive and enthusiasm count for a lot here.
Degree: Food Science/ Food technology or any other degree discipline if you can demonstrate a real passion for food
Location: Elland (Halifax), West Yorkshire
Salary: £14-£15k
Closing date: Closed Mon 22-Mar-2010
Job ref: GY/41064/INT
Eligibility: Applications will only be accepted from candidates who are authorised to work for any UK employer.
