Employer: Sheffield Hallam University Internship Scheme

Sheffield Hallam Careers and Employment Service are currently running a number of internship schemes, funded by Yorkshire Forward and HEFCE. Working with local employers, we are offering twelve week placements for graduates of 2008 and 2009, designed to develop and enhance your employability. These schemes offer you the opportunity to gain valuable work experience to help in your chosen career path.

Job details: This internship has been set up in conjunction with TownTalk UK.

TownTalk UK has been funded by the public sector to create web portals that will promote and brand urban centres throughout the UK.

To date all marketing and PR has been undertaken at the local sites by Councils or town centre partnership teams, with the result that there is no overall strategy or co-ordinated approach.

From April 2010, it has been agreed that a national strategy will be formulated and adopted, with corporate objectives being set for the brand as well as a series of initiatives which can be used at local sites to raise the profile of individual town activities.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and will have qualifications to degree level in Public Relations, Marketing or related discipline.

They will need to show an understanding of both national and local media, be self motivated, enthusiastic and personable.

A good knowledge of IT and computer skills is essential.
