Job details: As a key member of the European sales team, the prime focus of the role will be to work with a Business Manager to support and enable the achievement of sales objectives in the countries of Southern Europe. Through targeted and effective sales, marketing and support activities, the jobholder will generate sales leads, increase renewal performance, and deliver a customer focused service. Country targeted activities and appropriate language skills will be an essential part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

·Managing renewal/up-sell campaigns to customers in the Academic Sector, in conjunction with Business Managers;
·Directly contacting print journal customers to create a profitable customer relationship primarily through telephone contact;
·Supporting the Business Manager in the renewal of all business at the end of the agreement by providing accurate customer and product information in a timely manner and supporting the preparation of the information and documentation necessary to complete the renewal, including proposals and licenses;
·Providing accurate and timely customer information, detailing subscriptions and prices for use in proposals, licenses and management information, in a format that is easily accessible by all who require access to the information;
·Communicating agreed pricing/licenses to the Customer Operations department;
·Working with external agencies, writing and designing promotional material/letters, including country specific (translated) brochures;
·Planning and undertaking campaigns to renew and up-sell existing customers;
·Sourcing and deploying conference incentives and exhibition stands when necessary;
·Developing regionally focussed advertising, PR campaigns and conference/exhibition attendance to raise awareness of Emerald’s products and services with the ultimate aim of generating qualified leads;
·Following the generation of a lead, whether generated by you or another area of the business, undertaking a verification and qualification process to establish a genuine need to purchase. Passing all qualified leads to the relevant Business Manager to be followed up;
·Providing accurate and regular reports on activity undertaken and campaign results for further analysis;
·Planning and undertaking campaigns to generate new leads, using the full marketing mix including direct mail, e-mails, promotional literature, telemarketing, advertising and event management;
·Renewing subscriptions taken by customers not included in agreements;
·Undertaking training and development with existing and prospective customers, for example WebEx training;
·Providing office-based support for customers, responding to queries when Business Managers are out of the office;
·Creating and distributing welcome packs to all customers;
·In conjunction with Business Managers, proposing an annual marketing budget for the region in line with the guidelines specified. Undertaking all activities relating to the objectives listed above within the parameters of the agreed annual budget set.


Attributes:
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic person who possesses the skills necessary for this demanding role – determination, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to speak at least one European language (preferably Italian but Spanish or Portuguese also desirable) is essential.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, together with the ability to represent our Company externally. Applicants must be able to work on their own initiative and adhere to deadlines. Computer literacy, including experience of Word for Windows and Excel is essential. The role also demands good negotiation and analytical skills combined with creative and lateral thinking.

Candidates must have at least one year's experience in an account management, marketing or customer service role. There will also be an expectation that some international travel will be involved as well as participating in the company’s training and development programmes.

This role is UK based with international travel.

Degree: Fluency in Italian or at least one other European language is required. Any other related.

Salary: £15,500 - £18,500 (depending on experience)
