Sally Steadman

Sally Steadman studied a degree in Business & Marketing at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside which had a campus in Hull.

"I really wanted to stay in Yorkshire after I graduated," says Sally. "I love the friendliness of people in Yorkshire and how helpful everybody is.

Sally went along to her University's careers fair in her final year where she found out about the great services offered by Graduates Yorkshire for graduates wanting to work in the region.

"The sites really easy to use and it gave me great access to just the kind of jobs that I was looking for, especially as they were only Yorkshire based jobs.

"It gives you more information than most of the other job websites I've seen. You know exactly who the company is that you're applying to and it was quick and easy, as you could apply directly to the company from the website. Much better than trawling through lots of newspapers trying to find graduate jobs and then sending out covering letters and CV's."

Sally now works as a Business Adviser with Business Link Yorkshire and gained this position and her first role after University through the Graduates Yorkshire website.

 "My first job was with an industrial materials company as a Marketing Coordinator.  I stayed there for 18 months before joining Business Link Humber as a Marketing Assistant, becoming their Marketing Manager a year and half later." 

"After Business Link Humber came to an end earlier this year I was transferred over to Business Link Yorkshire where I wanted to get more involved with the work Business Link does and became a Business Adviser."

"I'm really happy I chose to stay in Yorkshire. I love the variety. If you want to enjoy the seaside or countryside you can, or you can take advantage of the shopping and nightlife offered by cities like Leeds and Sheffield.

"Plus, it's a whole lot cheaper to settle here than in the South and there's plenty of opportunities open to graduates if you know where to look!"
