Martin Bailey tells us about his quest for a graduate job....
There is one thing that I wish I had done a while ago, that would save some of the stress about looking for a graduate job. You probably think I'm going to say, secure that first from the beginning of second year, or get better A-level results, so I wouldn't eye up every job thinking, what if I don't get that 2.1 they want? In actual fact it's, I wish I had learned how to drive!
The amount of big companies that want you to be able to drive astounds me, it's as if they haven't heard of trains, or have no room for trains in their travel budget (which were they to take me on as a finance graduate, I would make that my first project!)(Comments 1)

Career Fairs are a great opportunity to meet employers and find out what they're really looking for in a graduate.
With 2 Career Fairs planned in February, this is the perfect time to start networking to land your dream role.
There'll be local and national graduate recruiters, placement providers and professional bodies - recruiting from a wide range of disciplines.
The Graduates Yorkshire team will also be there so come and say hello :)

I graduated class of 2009. I worked throughout Uni and as soon as I'd finished I went full time with the company I was already with, I didn't want to stay long term but I figured it was a stopgap until I could find something else. The major problem I found myself with was that I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do. One of the reasons I went to Uni was to have some extra time to figure that out, sadly the three years didn't help with an answer. In the end I set about applying for jobs I thought I'd enjoy.(Comments 1)

It wouldn't be Christmas without a bit of mulled wine or Mince Pies so why not try your hand at making one of these Yuletide classics:

Then why not tap into some local talent. A leading Keighley entrepreneur has started a new initiative called Co-working Keighley that brings local people who wish to start their own business together.
Sean Gilligan, who heads up this exciting concept, is no stranger to starting up his own business with his own company, Webanywhere, employing 70 staff. The aim of Co-Working Keighley is to bring like-minded people together with the opportunity of being mentored by a circle of experts.
Not only will you receive some expert advice but the first bunch of co-workers will be provided with desk space which you can use occasionally or on a full time basis.(Comments 1)
