Do your bit for Graduates Yorkshire and bag £50!

So picture the scene. Three finalists walk past our stand at a careers fair looking at our giant 6m long bright green stand (or "the monster" as it's known in GY towers) with a quizzical look on their faces. I draw them in with a dazzling smile and tell them who we are and what we do, at which point student 1 pipes up "yeah I'm registered with you guys, your ace." Whilst students 2 & 3 go "Who?" "What?" "Never heard of you."

If only the student in-the-know had spread the love then my job as Marketing Officer would be done!

I'm often told that Graduates Yorkshire is a well kept secret. People either know us & love us, or they've never even heard of us! As we're a social enterprise, we really rely on social media and promotion through our partners in the Careers Service to help get the message out. But we know there are still loads of graduates out there struggling to find jobs who still don't know we exist! It can be really frustrating because we know that our service is great and we could be helping even more graduates in our region.

So we're asking for your help in promoting Graduates Yorkshire to friends and family in return for some good old fashioned bribery!

Recommend a friend to the Graduates Yorkshire Internship Programme and if they go on to be placed in an internship we'll give you £50 in vouchers of your choice. We're also giving away two top prizes of £50 vouchers each for the two graduates who go that extra mile in promoting our services.

We're fond of Amazon vouchers but we're happy to indulge you in anyway you choose. Whether that be £50 to splash out on a new haircut at Tony & Guys or the latest chart toppers from HMV.

There's loads of ways you can promote Graduates Yorkshire, here are a few ideas to get you started:

• Send out a group email to all your mates
• Make a Facebook group, mention us in your status updates or become a fan of us here & tell your mates to become fans too
• Give us a shameless plug on Twitter (and follow us @gradyorks while you're at it!)
• Write our web address in the snow or the sand on Scarborough beach and send us a photo

You can send any photographic evidence of your attempts to promote us to info@graduatesyorkshire.co.uk and make sure your mates know to mention your name when they sign up, so we know who to give the prizes to!

I'd also love to hear your marketing ideas too. At nearly 25 yrs old it's been a while since I enjoyed the student life, and although I'm sure it hasn't changed too much, any insights from on campus are always welcome! Post your ideas on our Facebook fan page here.
