Funding from Central Government for Local Enterprise Growth Initiatives in Doncaster and Sheffield has led to the launch of several enterprise schemes locally. Success Doncaster and BiG - Make It Your Business, offer advice and support in the set up, creation and longevity of businesses in disadvantaged areas.

Additionally, Sheffield's focus on developing the creative and digital industries and the knowledge economy as part of the city's economic strategy means there's further provision for start ups in related industries.

Sheffield Enterprise Agency (SENTA)

Provides a range of services free of charge to anyone living in Sheffield or setting up a business in the Sheffield area. This includes ongoing one-to-one counselling sessions with accredited business advisors, a business skills training course, tailored practical workshops and seminars, and two years continued aftercare for your new business.  They are also linked in to the BiG project (see below).

South Yorkshire Female Enterprise Network (SYFEN)

The network helps women looking to set up their business in South Yorkshire by offering courses, mentoring and opportunities to network.

Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE) South Yorkshire

Helps rural women develop and grow their business and delivers a range of services to meet the needs of rural business women.

Sheffield Community Enterprise Development Unit (SCEDU)

Supports the development of sustainable community and social enterprises as part of its commitment to creating successful neighbourhoods and communities.

Rotherham Chamber of Commerce

Its Enterprise Division offers free day and evening business start-up courses, advice for businesses trading for under two years and "easy in - easy out" low-cost starter units.

Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RIDO)

With incubation units, a business network and a youth enterprise scheme, RIDO have a wealth of support to help those setting up in business in Rotherham.
