Personnel or Human Resource functions operate within all organisations whether it is a whole department or in the case of a small company may form part of the job role of one person. Their primary function is people management and includes everything from recruiting staff to advising employees to developing and planning organisational training needs.

Recruitment Consultancies operate as a service to organisations and can broadly be divided into three distinct types of business; executive search, contingency selection and temporary agencies.

Training takes its shape in many different guises from a self employed Training Consultant through to Training and Development Manager providing an in house function.
