We're advertising an internal vacancy for a new Business Development Officer using a You Tube video, which offers a personal insight into the role, as well as a traditional advert on the Graduates Yorkshire website. We hear it's going to be the next things so we thought we'd put our money where our mouth is!
The video has been promoted using social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.
The video features existing Business Development Officer, John Cusworth, talking about his role at Graduates Yorkshire and providing more information about what the position will involve.
The vacancy has arisen due to Graduates Yorkshire recently securing an additional three years funding from Yorkshire Forward for its Graduate Internship Scheme. They will now be able to offer 650 graduates in the region the opportunity to gain paid work experience as well as offering mentoring and support to graduates who apply to the scheme but are unsuccessful.
Martin Edmondson Chief Executive of Graduates Yorkshire said: "At Graduates Yorkshire we are always looking to trial new methods of recruitment advertising to offer our clients with the best way of reaching the region's graduates. We decided that having a vacancy of our own to advertise was a great opportunity to trial this innovative recruitment solution.
"Graduates and many of the region's employers are very switched on when it comes to social media so it is important to utilise this resource in the recruitment process."
Graduates Yorkshire has previously won a ‘Golden Twit' Award in 2009 for use of social networking site Twitter.
John Cusworth, Graduates Yorkshire Business Development officer, who appeared in the video said: "It is difficult to communicate in a traditional advert what the experience of working for a company is like, in the video advert I was able to tell prospective candidates all about the fantastic team spirit we have at the company as well as the skills needed for the role."
The new Business Development officer will cover West and North Yorkshire and will be responsible for working with business to create successful internship opportunities as well as selecting the graduates to fill the vacancies.
