Yorkshire Internship Awards 2011

Toast Bar in Leeds was the venue of choice for the business community of Yorkshire to celebrate the Yorkshire Internship Awards 2011. It was a glittering event with over 100 people in attendance. At a time when the news is awash with unpaid internships and youth unemployment it was a refreshing change to celebrate how, we in Yorkshire, are doing it right!
As everyone tucked into their bespoke Yorkshire cocktails and canapés, a gentle buzz filled the room on how internships had made an impact in their line of work. Those that had never thought of employing an intern before were enamoured with the idea. Stephanie Brooks, HR Director of Mars, commented that after the event she would now look to introduce an internship programme into Mars.
Joining us on the night were the 4 judges Margaret Dane, Chief Executive at AGCAS (Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services); Dom Potter, Director at Internocracy; Stephanie Brooks, HR Director at Mars, Karen Weaver, OD and Workforce Services Manager at LGYH. After some hearty discussions a tough decision had to be made. Here are the a list of the winners of the Yorkshire Internship Awards 2011:
