Graduates Yorkshire is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Niche Job Board Award at the Onrec Awards 2012. The winner will be announced on the 28th March at the awards ceremony to be held at the Grange St. Paul’s Hotel, London.

It’s felt like GY on tour of late. We’ve been out filming all across Yorkshire filming its best bits for a video we are putting together to encourage people to want to live and work in Yorkshire after they graduate. We don’t think that it’s a hard sell but judging by the weather we have had we might be wrong… take a look at this youtube clip!

The Higher Education Careers Services Unit (HECSU) has released a report that suggests the levels of graduate unemployment are starting to drop. The report shows that whilst the reduction in public sector employment is likely to affect graduates the modest growth in private sector recruitment is likely to offset this.

With evidence to prove that graduates on internships can contribute positively to a business’ bottom line, Graduates Yorkshire is keen to promote the benefits of an internship programme.
Internships offer businesses the opportunity to attract graduates with fresh ideas. It’s also a great way to trial a graduate before employing them on a full time basis. For graduates, it gives them the opportunity to gain work experience and valuable employability skills.
We spoke to Mark Boorman, marketing manager at Trustmarque to hear his experience of hiring a graduate intern.
